Rafael Guereque: A Forensic Science Major Making His Mark

Rafael Guereque, a junior at 麻豆传媒映画出品 (WSU), is a first-generation college student from Hugoton, Kansas, who is already gaining real-world experience in his chosen field of forensic science. WSU brought him closer to his dreams, and he鈥檚 now interning with the 麻豆传媒映画出品 Police Department. His work involves riding along with police officers and collaborating with forensic scientists. For Rafael, this hands-on experience is a critical part of his education.

"I鈥檓 excited to get some real-world experience in my field of study and to see how each aspect of law enforcement works together to ensure proficient and proper results," says Rafael. This internship allows him to observe how theory translates into practice and provides him the chance to build strong professional connections within the police department. Rafael hopes to refine his skills in writing professional reports鈥攁n essential part of his future career. 鈥淚鈥檓 already a strong writer, but there is a clear difference between writing an essay for class and writing a report for my career. I鈥檝e always believed the best way to learn a job is to do it yourself,鈥 he explains.

Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Rafael is also heavily involved in campus life. He is a member of Phi Delta Theta, the Cheer Team, Shocker Sound, the Cohen Honors College, the Student Ambassador Society, and the Student Government Association. His wide range of activities showcases his dedication to both personal growth and community involvement. His leadership in multiple organizations not only enhances his college experience but also broadens his skill set, preparing him for a well-rounded career in forensic science.

Not only has he excelled academically and socially, but Rafael also achieved a notable milestone in March when he earned the top Army Combat Fitness Test score in Kansas. This achievement speaks to his discipline and determination, traits that serve him well both in the classroom and in his internship.

Reflecting on his studies, Rafael shares, "I鈥檓 starting to see how my classes will be used in my day-to-day life after my collegiate career." This growing understanding has fueled his passion for mentoring others. Rafael is eager to share his journey with fellow students who are interested in forensic science and help guide them along their paths.

Through his internship and involvement in campus life, Rafael is not just building his career but also creating a network of support that will carry him far beyond his college years. With a bright future ahead, Rafael Guereque exemplifies what it means to be a Shocker鈥攄riven, dedicated, and ready to take on the world.
