SGA Elections Commission to host Election Town Halls for Senatorial Candidates

 

WICHITA, KANSAS (March 12, 2019)- As part of "Let Your Voice Be Heard" Week, the 麻豆传媒映画出品 State University Student Government Association Elections Commission will host Election Town Halls for Senatorial Candidates featuring College Deans and University Administrators.

As the direct representatives of the student body, the Legislative Branch consists of the Senate and its standing committees (Budget and Finance, Safety and Student Services, Diversity Task Force, Organization Outreach). The Legislative Branch establishes policies through legislation, recognizes student organizations, confirms presidential nominations and allocates annually more than $9.5 million in student fees.

These town halls are designed to provide a time for students to learn more about the candidates whom are running for office. Due to the lack of candidates in the other senator seats, the dates, times and locations of the Election Town Halls the Commission will host are as followed:

Monday, March 25, 2019

  • 6:00 p.m. : Applied Studies Senatorial Candidates Town Hall featuring Dean Lefever
  • 6:00 p.m. : Liberal Arts and Sciences Town Hall, featuring Dean Hippisley
  • 8:00 p.m. : Graduate School Town Hall, featuring Interim Dean Wilks

Tuesday, March 26, 2019

  • 6:00 p.m. : Honors College Senatorial Candidates Town Hall, featuring Dean Engber
  • 6:00 p.m. : Fine Arts Senatorial Candidates Town Hall, featuring Dean Miller

Wednesday, March 27, 2019

  • 6:00 p.m. : Engineering College Senatorial Candidates Town Hall, featuring Dean Livesay

Thursday, March 28, 2019

  • 6:00 p.m. : At-Large, International,  Returning Adult Senatorial Candidates Town Hall

The Student Government Association Election Commission is responsible for the administration of the Student Government Association Elections, as well as the administration of additional events at the discretion of the Election Commission that aim to promote the elections, inform the student body about the elections, provide the candidates with information, allow candidates an opportunity to promote themselves, or otherwise contribute to a fair, efficient, and publicized elections.
