Diverse Women's Summit - March 20

Keynote Panel: Women in STEM at WSU

March 20th 7PM  Beggs Ballroom, 3rd flr RSC

DWS is a meeting of individuals and groups from different backgrounds on local, regional, national and global issues affecting women. The theme of the 2023 DWS will be Diversity and Belonging at 麻豆传媒映画出品.

The summit is in three parts:

  • 9:00 a.m.-noon, Students Showcase: This will include a presentation of papers, art, posters, and other projects by students and other participants.
  • 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., Creative Concourse: This will be a presentation of poetry, skits, stories and other projects by students, community members and other participants.
  • 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., International Women鈥檚 Day Keynote Speech: This speech will discuss the 2022 theme: Intersectionality at 麻豆传媒映画出品鈥揚rospects and Perspectives.

Diverse Women's Summit - March 7

The events are free and open to the public.

The Center for Women鈥檚 Studies in sponsorship with Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and The League of Women Voters of 麻豆传媒映画出品 will convene the seventh annual Diverse Women鈥檚 Summit (DWS) March 7 via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public.

DWS is a meeting of individuals and groups from different backgrounds on local, regional, national and global issues affecting women. The theme of the 2022 DWS will be Intersectionality at 麻豆传媒映画出品.

The summit is in three parts:

  • 9:00 a.m.-noon, Students Showcase: This will include a presentation of papers, art, posters, and other projects by students and other participants.
  • 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., Creative Concourse: This will be a presentation of poetry, skits, stories and other projects by students, community members and other participants.
  • 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., International Women鈥檚 Day Keynote Speech: This speech will discuss the 2022 theme: Intersectionality at 麻豆传媒映画出品鈥揚rospects and Perspectives. 

Call For Presentations (CFP)

Individuals, groups, faculty, staff, innovation partners and the public are invited to submit abstracts or proposals to present at the 2022 Diverse Women鈥檚 Summit (DWS) 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. March 7 via Zoom. DWS is a meeting of individuals and groups from different backgrounds on local, regional, national, and global issues affecting women. The theme of the 2022 DWS will be Intersectionality at 麻豆传媒映画出品 (Contribute and bring, create, or support intersectionality at WSU).

Proposals should include 100-200 words describing the presentation (type, subject, theme, and purpose). Presentations that focus on the following topics will be given priority:

  • Intersectional research
  • Citizenship and special populations
  • Women, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality and ability
  • Social justice and the future

Proposals and abstracts will be accepted until Feb. 15 and should be submitted to chinyere.okafor@wichita.edu.

Diverse Women's Summit - March 8

This event is free and open to the public.

The Department of Women鈥檚 Studies, in sponsorship with Office of Diversity & Inclusion and League of Women Voters of Kansas, convenes the annual Diverse Women's Summit (DWS) of individuals and groups from different backgrounds on local, regional, and global diversity issues affecting women and gender. Because of the pandemic situation and especially the rise to prominence of women and other minority populations in tackling the pandemic and its associated situations as well as their high mortality rate during these times, the theme of the 2021 summit is 鈥淲omen and Leadership in the time of Covid-19.鈥 It is designed to focus on women鈥檚 roles, their implications for different women, the future of women and gender in their intersection with challenges from class/poverty, race/ethnicity, sexuality, disability, religion and other pyramids of power. The summit will take place on March 8 by zoom. The summit is free and open to the public.

The summit is in three parts:

  1. Student Showcase (consisting of presentations - papers, art, posters, and other projects by students).

  2. Creative Concourse (consisting of poetry, skits, stories, and other presentations by community members and students)

Call For Presentations

Students, groups, and community members are invited to submit abstracts or proposals to present papers, posters, art works, dialogues, skits etc. for 5-10 minutes. The summit will be by zoom on March 8, 2021.The proposal should be 100-200 words describing the presentation (type, subject, theme, and purpose).

Presentations that focus the theme on the following will be given priority:

  • Research on issues of covid-19 and special populations,
  • Citizenship and covid-19.
  • Gender-based violence and other issues.
  • The future.

Diverse Women's Summit - March 10 & 11

This event is free and open to the public.

The Department of Women, Gender, and Diversity Studies, in sponsorship with Office of Diversity & Inclusion and League of Women Voters of Kansas, convenes the annual Diverse Women鈥檚 Summit (DWS) of individuals and groups from different backgrounds on local, regional, and global diversity issues. Because this year marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment on women鈥檚 right to vote in America as well as the crucial 38th ratification of Equal Rights Amendment written in 1923, the theme of the 2020 summit is 鈥淓xpanding Equality.鈥 It is designed to celebrate women鈥檚 right to vote, its implications for different women, and increasing opportunities for the future of women and gender with challenges posed by class/poverty, race/ethnicity, sexuality, disability, religion and other pyramids of power. The summit will take place on March 10 and 11 in the Beggs Ballroom on the 3rd Floor of the Rhatigan Students Center (RSC). The summit is free and open to the public.

This event is in three parts:

  1. Student Showcase (consisting of presentations - papers, art, posters, and other projects by students).
    March 10 | 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  2. International Women鈥檚 Day Keynote Speech - 鈥淐itizenship before the Women's Suffrage Amendment: African American and Native American, Rights, and Resistance鈥 by Professor Kim Warren of the University of Kansas History Department.
    March 10 | 7:00 p.m.
  3. Creative Concourse (consisting of poetry, skits, stories, and other presentations by community members and students)
    March 11 | 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
