CSD Outstanding Alumni Award

The CSD Outstanding Alumni Award is given annually to our alumni who have shown outstanding achievement in the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology. Nomination letters should detail the nominee's qualifications for the award and include their curriculum vita. Additional letters of support are optional, but appreciated. Submit nominations to csd@wichita.edu by October 1.

2011: Douglas Martin, PhD

Douglas Martin, PhD, CCC-ADouglas Martin, PhD, CCC-A has been selected as the recipient of the 2011 WSU Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders Outstanding Alumni Award. He completed a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Audiology at 麻豆传媒映画出品 in 1989.

Dr. Martin is an Associate Professor of Audiology in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Cincinnati. He has served on faculty of the University of Montana, Missouri State University, and Portland State University. From 1997鈥2002, Dr. Martin served as the Director of the Speech and Hearing Sciences Program at Portland State University. He has published numerous articles and book chapters regarding the uses of technology in instructional and clinical applications in the discipline of communication sciences and disorders. His current research projects include investigating the effects of noise exposure in non-human mammals (dogs and whales). In addition, Dr. Martin has developed the Student Assessment Management System (SAMS), a web-based tool being used by over 45 Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology programs to track student learning outcomes in accordance with certification and accreditation standards.

In 2009, he was named a Fellow of American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the discipline of communication sciences and disorders.

Continuing Education
Continuing education clock hours have been approved for Kansas licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologists by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
