Info for New Students (First Year Orientation)
- Incoming students will learn about CliftonStrengths during orientation.
- The CliftonStrengths assessment will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. We recommend a quiet spot, away from distractions and interuptions.
- After you take the assessment, you will receive a customized report that lists your top five talent themes, along with action items for development and suggestions about how you can use your talents to achieve academic, career and personal success.

Who uses CliftonStrengths?
Besides being able to use your strengths in your daily life, both in and outside the classroom, here are some of the offices who are interested in helping you identify and use your strengths.

How do I use Strengths?
- After taking the assessment, spend time in your dashboard. There are videos, modules and other resources to take advantage of.
- in our office to help understand your results and find ways to productively apply Strengths to your life.
- Dialog with peers and ask your Transition Mentor how they use their strengths.
- Use Strengths-based language in resumes and interviews to better convey strengths to employers. Connect with a Career Coach by scheduling an appointment through or by contacting (316) 978-3688 or SCA@wichita.edu.
- Use Strengths to find extracurricular activities that will be a good fit. Visit the SEAL office for more info about clubs, organizations, and leadership opportunties available to you.
- Leverage your strengths in your academia. Talk with your success coach about how and when you can use strengths in your study and thoughts to help you be the most successful as a Shocker.
- Leverage your strengths in your wellness. Visit the CAPS office if you are struggling.
- Understand the value you bring to group projects and work along your peers better by understanding your unique contribution.
