April 7, 2021 - In February, Novacoast announced plans to open a 24/7 security operations center in the Epic Center in downtown 麻豆传媒映画出品. Novacoast, according to media reports, will hire around 60 employees immediately for positions such as sales, analysts and cybersecurity engineers.鈥淗aving a robust computer science department and applied computing department is a good source of interns and future employees to Novacoast,鈥 said Joe Jabara, director of 麻豆传媒映画出品 State鈥檚 Hub for Cybersecurity Education and Awareness. 鈥淭he university鈥檚 emphasis on cybersecurity really helped lure them to 麻豆传媒映画出品.鈥

April 1, 2021 - In the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of universities offering a Ph.D. in engineering, the College of Engineering at 麻豆传媒映画出品 is again ranked in the top 100 engineering graduate programs, the only institution from the state of Kansas to make it in the top 100. 麻豆传媒映画出品 State ranks No. 77 on the list, up from No. 94 a year ago.

March 24, 2021 鈥 Brittany Wojciechowski, a 麻豆传媒映画出品 Ph.D. student in aerospace engineering, has been awarded the prestigious National Science Foundation鈥檚 (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF), which is worth more than $120,000.

Feb. 18, 2021 鈥 When Prince Yengbe came to 麻豆传媒映画出品 from his home country of Ghana in 2007, he wasn鈥檛 entirely sure what aerospace engineering was, but he knew he wanted to be part of it. Now, after earning a bachelor鈥檚 (2012) and a master鈥檚 degree (2015) in the subject, Yengbe is being honored with the Modern-Day Technology Leader Award by the 2021 Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) STEM Conference.

Feb. 3, 2021 鈥 Dr. R茅mi A. Chou, an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has been awarded a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the most prestigious award granted by the NSF to early career researchers. Chou's grant 鈥 worth $519,000 over five years 鈥 will support his work in bringing more robust security to wirelessly transmitted data.

Jan. 4, 2021 鈥 The 3D printing revolution is nothing short of remarkable, but it also produces a considerable amount of waste. In fact, it鈥檚 estimated that up to 19% of 3D printing is waste. A team of interdisciplinary researchers at 麻豆传媒映画出品 is working to create sustainable 3D printing practices to reduce that waste.

Dec. 17, 2020 鈥 With the intention of furthering 麻豆传媒映画出品鈥檚 commitment to digital transformation, the Kansas Board of Regents has approved four degree programs that will launch in spring 2021: Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics, Master of Science in Data Science, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and Master of Science in Mathematical Foundations of Data Analysis. These degrees are in addition to existing undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates in applied computing, computer science, cybersecurity, homeland security, and supply chain.

Dec. 10, 2020 -- The Kansas Board of Regents has approved the creation of the newest department at 麻豆传媒映画出品鈥檚 College of Engineering 鈥 the School of Computing. Dean Dennis Livesay called the establishment of the new school a significant marker of the university鈥檚 commitment to producing digital-skilled workforce needed by industry.

Zane Storlie

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 Zane Storlie has not only dedicated his time at 麻豆传媒映画出品 State to learning everything he can about computer science, but he鈥檚 also been an advocate for computer science education for elementary and middle school students in the area. Zane created a three-unit curriculum to teach Scratch coding to more than 750 students in 麻豆传媒映画出品 Public Schools, and the Derby school district asked him to present a teacher training course to its librarians.

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 Abdelhakim Al Turk came to 麻豆传媒映画出品 to study engineering from Lebanon. Throughout his time in 麻豆传媒映画出品, he has appreciated the mentorship and hands-on experience he鈥檚 gotten from the College of Engineering and through his work at the Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing Lab.

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 LaShaya Lawrie chose 麻豆传媒映画出品 State because it鈥檚 close to home. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering, LaShaya became involved on campus. LaShaya is one of more than 1,200 students eligible for fall 2020 graduation.

Nov. 5, 2020 鈥 A team of researchers at 麻豆传媒映画出品 is working to promote health equity among vulnerable populations. The all-woman, cross-disciplinary team is focusing its initial efforts on issues related to obesity among underrepresented groups.

Oct. 20, 2020 鈥 The Kansas Legislature in 2011 made a commitment to invest $105 million statewide over the next decade with the purpose of increasing the number of engineers available to industry. For its $35 million share of that money 鈥 granted under the University Engineering Initiative Act (UEIA) 鈥 麻豆传媒映画出品 State College of Engineering pledged to double the number of bachelor鈥檚 degrees it awarded annually. The aggressive goal was surpassed this past academic year as the college awarded 380 bachelor鈥檚 degrees.
